Sandra Cuevas Launches Political Project Against Morena

The former mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Sandra Cuevas, officially presented her political project titled 'Organization for the Family and the Security of Mexico' on Tuesday, January 28. In a press conference, Cuevas invited the opposition to unite and form a common front against Morena in the upcoming midterm elections of 2027.

In her statements, Sandra Cuevas mentioned that Ricardo Monreal, coordinator of the Morena parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies, had expressed his intention to support opposition parties. However, the former mayor accused him of betrayal, calling him a traitor for his supposed support of Claudia Sheinbaum after she won the mayoralty in the 2021 elections.

In a tone of disappointment, Cuevas emphasized that her collaboration with Ricardo Monreal aimed to strengthen the opposition and that the betrayal by the Morena deputy affected her deeply. The former official also opened a call for those interested in running for an elected office in the upcoming elections, stating that the effort will be rewarded in the life journey of each participant.

During the presentation of her political project, Sandra Cuevas called on prominent figures of the opposition such as Xóchitl Gálvez, Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo, Claudio X. González, and the ultraconservative actor Eduardo Verástegui to unite and avoid internal divisions. She believes that creating a new political party is not the right path for the opposition, as Morena holds control over all institutions in the country.

Sandra Cuevas pointed out that it is essential to unite forces instead of further fragmenting the opposition with more political parties. The former mayor expressed having been a victim of betrayal, sale, and threats from Monreal, although she concluded her statements with a message of good wishes towards him. Those interested in participating in her organization will receive training in political and territorial matters.
